Xiaomi Redmi Note 5A Arrives in Malaysia for RM549

Xiaomi is set to launch another contender for the global midrange smartphone lineup - this time with an unbelievable 18:9 screen ratio! And it seems that they are now gearing up to announce the Redmi Note 5 - successor to the popular Redmi Note 4.

The Redmi line is known for maxing out at 5.5-inches but this device has a larger screen, thanks to the significantly reduced bezels at the top and bottom of the phone. The leaked images also reveal a metal unibody design and a dual camera setup on the back. The talk of the town is the 18:9 display and dual rear cameras on the Redmi Note 5, and today's leak almost confirmed both these rumours. Additionally, the alleged Redmi Note 5 will come with a dual camera system on the rear consisting of one 16-megapixel camera and another 5-megapixel camera. The device itself, on the other hand, will be officially available from 11 October onwards. According to GizChina this mystery smartphone is Redmi Note 5 and will run on a high-end Mediatek P25 or P30 Chipset.

The incredible midrange phone will probably come with a Snapdragon 660 or a MediaTek Helio P25, with the scales tipping in favor of the latter. The Snapdragon variant will possibly be launched in India, while the Mediatek variant will be launched in China. In terms of memory, the phone is expected to come with two options - 3GB RAM and 32GB storage, and 4GB RAM with 64GB storage. The phone will be backed by a 4,000 mAh battery. It will be priced at 999 Yuan for 3GB/32GB variant, 1299 Yuan for 4GB/32GB variant and 1599 Yuan for 4GB/64GB variant. As it was rumoured all these days, the Redmi Note 5 will feature an 18:9 display, but the report didn't reveal anything about the screen size though.
