OSU receives grand jury subpoena in basketball case

Evans was sacked by Oklahoma State two days after the Federal Bureau of Investigation announced findings from an investigation of fraud and corruption in college basketball that led to Evans' arrest along with nine others.

A NY grand jury has requested Oklahoma State University provide all documents related to "actual or potential NCAA rules violations" by members of the Cowboys' basketball staff and roster or to have a school representative testify about the potential issues on October 17.

In addition to the demand, which requires any information regarding potential or actual violations of NCAA rules from January 1, 2014 to now, the Federal Bureau of Investigation is also demanding Evans' personnel file, all NCAA certification forms (and the communication regarding those forms) for Evans and all players currently in the program and documents/communication regarding scholarships and financial aid for those players. Chuck Person (Auburn) and Emanuel "Book" Richardson (Arizona) appeared in front of the judge, as did Merl Code Jr., who was affiliated with Adidas' grassroots basketball department.

The subpoena demands OSU release various types of documents, including NCAA certifications forms, scholarship and financial aid papers and communications between OSU's coaching staff and players as well as parents. The current Oklahoma State coaching staff retained Evans after Underwood left in March for IL.

The jury is requesting extensive information since January 1, 2014.

The Associated Press reported Evans was sacked last month after being accused of "accepting $2,000 a month in bribes to funnel athletes to certain agents" as part of the widespread scandal.

Any records of conversations between the school and three of the men involved with the FBI's investigation: Christian Dawkins, Martin Blazer and Munish Sood.

Underwood, who was coach at Oklahoma State from March 2016 to March 2017, is not named in the subpoena.
