Pochettino: United and City sign who they want; Spurs can't

Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino has bemoaned the financial chasm between the Manchester clubs and the rest of the Premier League.

Pep Guardiola spent over £200 million to revamp his City team this summer, while Jose Mourinho needed over £140m to bolster his squad ahead of United's Premier League title push this season.

Despite their massive transfer fees, these signings have (for the most part) proven to be successful so far, with the pair of Manchester outfits now joint top of the Premier League table with 19 points.

Tottenham spent money on Serge Aurier, Fernando Llorente, Davinson Sanchez and Juan Foyth this summer, but sold Kyle Walker to Manchester City.

But Pochettino says there is a marked difference between the way the Manchester clubs are able to spend and how others must be more cautious.

With Winks' call up, the Tottenham youth academy graduate became the latest in a long line of players to feature for the Three Lions under Pochettino, with the Argentine overseeing 12 players, including the London-born playmaker, who have now received a senior cap.

While the England team is far from a positive entity at the moment consider this - where would we be if Mauricio Pochettino hadn't come to the Premier League?

Spurs, who now sit 3rd in the Premier League table behind the two Manchester clubs, return to action this Saturday with a league clash versus Bournemouth at White Hart Lane.

'It's the big difference today'.

However, last season's runners-up maintained their flawless record on the road prior to the worldwide break with a convincing 4-0 victory over Huddersfield.
