Twelve Apostles evacuated, fire contained

A fire rages out of control in the Oudekraal area on 12 October 2017

A further 10 firefighters are on standby and are attending to flare-ups at the five-star 12 Apostles Hotel. Laubscher said there has not been any psychical damage to the property. Guests from hotel being evacuated. "We are very busy at the moment trying to make sure that everyone is safe", he said.

Guests and staff were evacuated from the hotel on Thursday night.

The fires began in the Oudekraal-Camps Bay area since Wednesday fanned by strong winds.

The deputy general manager of 12 Apostles Hotel, Lukas Laubscher, said the hotel made a decision to evacuated the hotel as a precaution to safeguard their guests.

It urged members of the public to avoid the area.
