Greek chapel bans foreign weddings after British couple's x-rated photo goes viral

The Lunns from Birmingham took

But with Matw Lunn (27) and his wife Carly (34), action went backwards: The kinky photo was taken in front of a monastery in Lindos on Greek island of Rhodes - and from now on foreign couples have a marriage ban re. They immediately posted the picture on their social media sites, proud owners of their lifelong memento of the happy day.

The couple chose to share the photo on Facebook to amuse friends and family, but soon the image went viral and spread across the Internet and in Greek television and newspapers.

Suzanne Sparkles, 33, from Chorley in Lancashire, planned to get married to fiance Steve Arnold, 38, at St Paul's chapel in Rhodes next May - costing around £40,000 ($74,000).

"I can't believe what the couple did".

Those looking to get married at an idyllic Greek monastery will be heading somewhere else. We can not allow this disgusting behavior to get through.

Mr Eleftheriou, who performed the couple's ceremony, added: "Shame on those two for the damage they have done".

Gas engineer Daniel Gaynor, 32, and his partner vet nurse, Mandy Jackson, 30, from Rotherham also hit out at the Lunns for ruining their wedding plans in Rhodes.

"We they have done the same in their homeland; in front of a British chapel, a Jewish temple, a Muslim mosque?

Hundreds of future brides from the United Kingdom and around the world calling me tonight because of this thing", - said the head of the community of Lindos.

"It doesn't matter to them they have had their wedding, but for many couples like us our dream wedding that we have been saving years and planning years has been ruined. They'd have been beheaded by Muslims!"

No one expected the worldwide reaction as the photo soon went viral and eventually reached local news media on Rhodes and Metropolitan Kyrillos, the head of the island's Greek Orthodox Church. It was a stupid and tasteless idea, in the first place - and now it is going to leave a lot of people such as hotels and restaurants seriously out of pocket.

Carly said she was stunned by the reaction, but defended the photo as a prank.

"People are outraged and talking about suing the couple".

A local resident said: "Even though it was a simulated act, it defiled the church". The situation was really that the local priest and Greek Orthodox Church and the mayor had no choice but to say there will be no further weddings - 99 percent of which are British.

The loss of weddings could be a major blow to a local economy that is highly dependent on tourism. "They want the couple to publicly apologize to Rhodes and particularly the church".
