ObamaCare fix may pass if Trump's on board: McConnell

That isn't going to help President Trump achieve his agenda.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said Sunday that he'd be willing to take bipartisan health care legislation to the floor - if President Donald Trump makes clear he supports it.

McConnell said he's "not particularly concerned" about recent criticisms the president has lodged against the Senate GOP's inability to advance his priorities. "I think his appointments, as I've said earlier, are absolutely changing the country".

Trump, Mulvaney said, was trying to secure more items from Republicans' health wishlist. Trump has tended to describe his plans and accomplishments in superlatives, claiming credit for the low unemployment rate and rallying stock market.

"Since the Republicans are in charge, they should be coming up with solutions, and Sen".

McConnell, who staged a show of unity with Trump in the White House rose garden this week, has been the target of fierce invective from Steve Bannon, Trump's former top adviser who is planning to run a slate of hard-right candidates against establishment senators next year. "If they can do something like that, I'm open to it". We had health care approved, and then you had the surprise vote by John McCain.

In that vein, Senator McConnell on TV noted the confirmation of several of President Trump's major nominees for executive and judicial positions. The Kentucky Republican also emphasized that he stood ready to steer the Senate toward the President's goals, including on health care.

"I'm waiting to hear from President Trump what kind of healthcare bill he might sign", McConnell told CNN's "State of the Union".

Amid strong criticism from politicians, the healthcare industry and doctors' groups, Lamar Alexander, a Tennessee Republican, and the Washington Democrat Patti Murray negotiated a deal to maintain the payments.

Trump at first suggested he supported the temporary fix as he continues to hold out hope for repeal-and-replace legislation.

Asked on Sunday if he would bring the bill to the floor, McConnell deferred to Trump.

"If there's a need for some kind of interim step here to stabilize the market, we need a bill the President will actually sign", McConnell said. "When he does, and I know that we're not just debating it, but actually passing something to be signed, I would be happy to bring it up".

"This is a good compromise", Schumer said on NBC's Meet the Press.

The Alexander-Murray bill has has been in the works for months, ever since the collapse of a major GOP effort to repeal Obamacare in July. It has a majority.

"We're thrilled to have somebody in the White House who supports what this House and Senate Republican majority has been wanting to have an opportunity to do for a long time".

But despite the supposed ill feelings, when asked if Senator McConnell trusts the President, the Senator firmly responded, "I Do".
