North Korea warns USA, says terror relisting move 'serious provocation'

"Our army and people are full of rage and anger toward the heinous gangsters who dared to put the name of our sacred country in this wretched list of "terrorism" and are hardening their will to settle all accounts with those gangsters at any time in any way", it said. "This is clearly an absurdity and a mockery to the world peace and security".

Da says the move "will arouse diplomatic reactions and hatred toward the US from North Korea" and could even prompt the North to resume missile tests.

North Korea denounced on Wednesday US President Donald Trump's decision to relist it as a state sponsor of terrorism, calling it a "serious provocation and violent infringement", North Korean state media reported.

The North has ramped up its weapons tests this year, conducting its largest atomic blast to date in September and launching dozens of missiles - including two over Japan that experts say are created to carry nuclear payloads - as it seeks to develop a a nuclear-tipped missile capable of striking the USA mainland.

North Korea condemned its USA terror listing as a "serious provocation" on Wednesday, warning that sanctions would never force it to abandon its nuclear weapons programme.

Experts say the US decision to put North Korea back on its terrorism blacklist will have limited practical effect, but may make a diplomatic solution of the standoff over its nuclear weapons program more hard.

"As long as the USA continues with its anti-DPRK hostile policy, our deterrence will be further strengthened".

The relisting, the North added, had reaffirmed that "we must continue to keep the treasured nuclear sword in our hands more tightly".

North Korea on Monday joined Iran, Sudan and Syria on the terror blacklist, a largely symbolic step as the administration already has the authority to impose virtually any sanctions it wants on Kim Jong Un's government over its nuclear weapons development.

Wednesday's remarks have raised concerns that the North could use the relisting as an excuse for fresh missile or nuclear weapons tests.

In all, one person, 13 trading entities and 20 vessels from various countries were sanctioned by the US Treasury Department, it said on Tuesday.

"If other countries do have information and are willing to cooperate with China, they could definitely share the information with us and appropriately solve the issue", he said.
