"Salvator Mundi", a painting of Christ by Leonardo Da Vinci recently sold at auction in NY for a record US$450 million (RM1.82 billion), will be displayed at the Louvre Abu Dhabi, the museum said yesterday on Twitter.
Bader bin Abdullah was identified in documents reviewed by the New York Times as the buyer of the painting, which was sold at Christie's in New York on November 15.
A Saudi prince has been revealed to be the buyer of the world's most expensive painting, priced at $450 million. He is a friend and associate of the country's 32-year-old Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.
Salvator Mundi has a controversial history, with at least one expert doubting that it is the work of Renaissance master da Vinci.
Prince Bader is listed as a director of Houston-based Energy Holdings International, Inc.
Bader has spent large sums on several ritzy commodities in recent years, including half a billion dollars on a 440-foot yacht.

Although Prince Badar did not respond to The Times' detailed request for comment, the Louvre in Abu Dhabi - a museum in the United Arab Emirates - tweeted Wednesday that the "Salvator Mundi" was "coming to Louvre Abu Dhabi", The Times said.
The unprecedented price - almost three times the previous record at auction for Pablo Picasso's painting Women of Algiers in May 2015 - led to speculation that the buyer was backed by Middle Eastern wealth.
The work - known as Salvator Mundi (Saviour of the World) - was sold in NY for a record $450m (£341m).
The island will also feature the Zayed National Museum, which had signed a loan deal with the British Museum - although the arrangement has come increasingly into question due to construction delays.
The museum opened with about 600 pieces including items from early Mesopotamia.
The first works on loan from the Louvre in Paris include another painting by Da Vinci - 'La Belle Ferronniere, ' one of his portraits of women.
In 1958, it was sold at auction in London for $60, BBC reported.
Its latest sale was initiated by Russian tycoon Dmitry Rybolovlev, the boss of football club AS Monaco.
