The latest disturbing sexual harassment allegations are against famed former NCAA, CFL and National Football League quarterback and current Seattle Seahawks' broadcaster Warren Moon (seen above during agent Leigh Steinberg's 2017 Super Bowl party).
Inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2006, Moon is now a radio announcer for the Seattle Seahawks and his No. 1 was retired by the Titans, formerly the Houston Oilers. According to Haskell, she was required to share a room and sleep in the same bed as Moon on all business trips. The lawsuit further claims that Moon slipped a drug into Haskell's drink during a trip to Mexico in October.
The plaintiff, Wendy Haskell, 32, was hired as Moon's executive assistant in July and traveled with him on a weekly basis for speaking engagements, charity events and personal appearances, according to the lawsuit.
The former Oilers great and Canadian Football League legend told her she had to comply to retain her job and "his prior assistant accepted the same arrangement", the lawsuit says. The suit also claims that she was demoted when she complained to the company Sports 1 Marketing, owned by Moon, about his sexual advances.
Moon, 61, had a prolific career as a football player, spending six years in the CFL before a 17-year stint in the NFL. He's best known for putting up record passing numbers with the then Houston Oilers from 1984-1993, but also starred for Minnesota, Seattle and Kansas City during a career that eventually landed him in Canton back in 2006.
Moon co-founded the sports marketing firm Sports 1 Marketing in 2010.
Moon's publicist did not respond to phone calls inquiring about the lawsuit, while Haskall declined to comment but agreed to go public with her name through her attorney, according to the report.
Though Moon has been accused of sexual misconduct and domestic abuse before, this is the first time he has gone under the spotlight in the post-Weinstein era of hyper-awareness towards powerful men sexually harassing and assaulting women. "She had no idea that her job duties were going to involve that kind of perverse protocol". The couple has been divorced since 2001.
