Bethesda Teams Up With Wonder Woman to Save Single-Player Games

Bethesda is looking to save the single-player gamer with a huge sale

In a video that calls back to Sarah McLachlan's animal cruelty PSAs, Lynda Carter of Wonder Woman and various Bethesda voice roles fame, is here to tell gamers to rise up and protect endangered, single-player video games. But sometimes you just need a little time away. With more and more games going the "Games as a Service route" (GaaS), Bethesda has made a trailer that wants to #SavePlayer1 and was rolled out during The Game Awards. Meanwhile, the community has been clamoring for more single-player games, and the media has penned a panoply of pieces bemoaning the loss of single-player experiences.

Once upon a time, these solitary experiences dominated the gaming landscape. The video seemingly takes a shot at EA's decision to shut down Visceral Games and ultimately their Star Wars game. But never fear! Bethesda is here to help. For the first stint of showing support, Bethesda's single-player lineup of titles are on sale for incredible prices to promote gaming. In order to support and celebrate single-player games, Bethesda will be discounting their current catalog of single-player games by up to 50% off (digitally and through select retailers), as well as make a donation of $100,000 to the Entertainment Software Association Foundation, an organization that provides scholarships to the next generation of industry innovators.

Bethesda will also donate $100,000 to the ESA Foundation to provide scholarships for future developers - the talented young people who might one day make new fantastic single-player games.

The publisher didn't announce any future single-player games, but it did point to its last two years of releases - many of which focus on offline campaigns.
