PUBG for Xbox Was Treated Like a First-Party Title at Microsoft

Although PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds has become something of a worldwide phenomenon, gamers everywhere are undoubtedly exhausted of experiencing the same Russian landscape time and time again.

Tonight during The Game Awards 2017, Bluehole showed off the first gameplay trailer for PUBG's new desert map.

In addition to the new trailer for Miramar, it was also announced at The Game Awards that Miramar will be available for players on the test server for PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds on PC a few hours after The Game Awards broadcast, while the map will be available in the upcoming Xbox One version in the near future.

A stark contrast to the fields and forests of the original Erangel map, the developers wrote in an announcement on their official Steam page, "The unique terrain and dense urban areas of Miramar will create a new Battle Royale experience where the old strategies may no longer work and new tactics are required". We've known about Miramar for quite some time, as the game's titular lead designer Brendan Greene has teased it numerous times over the months.

Player Unknown Battlegrounds has had a hell of a year, one that will go down in history in the world of successful game launches. The abandoned factory town of Chumacera looks to be an interesting location to visit, and the oceanside Valle del Mar (Valley of the Sea) will play an important role, connecting a prison island to the map's mainland.

There's only around 20 seconds of new desert map footage, admittedly, with an additional 60 seconds of bluster around it, but an bad lot has been packed into those brisk few moments. Additionally, a preview period for the Xbox One port will take place on December 12th.
