Barcelona completes the signing of Yerry Mina

Ramires Santos of Jiangsu FC celebrates after scoring a goal during the AFC Champions League group stage football match against Jeju United FC in Nanjing east China's Jiangsu province

Since the start of the transfer window, a number of players have been linked with an exit from Camp Nou, but the Spanish outfit have already moved to complete their second signing of 2018.

After bringing in their record fee Philippe Coutinho from Liverpool, the Catalan giants have added another weapon to their cavalry.

They've completed the signing of Yerry Mina from Palmeiras after several months of rumours and speculation.

Mina was a key part for Palmeiras when they won the Brazilian league in 2016 and was runner-up a year ago.

Barcelona had a deal with Palmeiras to bring him in the middle of the year for about 9 million euros ($10.7 million), but agreed to pay extra and advance the deal because of the recent injury to France worldwide Samuel Umtiti. He won the Brazilian League in his first season.

A fearsome ball-winner in the air, he chips in with plenty of goals despite his position, having netted eight in 33 appearances for Palmeiras and three in nine for Colombia's national team.

For less than €20m, Barcelona are signing the most exciting defender in South America.

Palmeiras announced the agreement with Barcelona on Thursday to transfer their central defender Yerry Mina through an official statement.

Mina's contract at Barcelona has a termination clause worth 100 million euros. The Argentine is set to move to the Chinese Super League.

The board asked Mascherano to stay at the club until Yerry Mina arrived.
