Trevor Noah explains why Oprah is the best opponent for Trump

It's unclear whether Trump watched Winfrey's Sunday speech, but the White House, reacting to the latest Oprah boomlet, said Monday that the administration would relish such a match-up. "Run for president, I'll work the campaign, '" Winfrey said at the time.

According to poll, 55% of all voters view Winfrey favorably, including 27% who view the media mogul very favorably and those stats are on par with 2011 polling results when she announced she was ending her syndicated talk show after 25 years. In a 1999, interview with Larry King, the future president said she would be his choice as running mate with the Reform Party. "I don't", King said definitively on her show "CBS This Morning", before then slightly (and perhaps infuriatingly) walking the statement back. "But I don't think she's actively considering it at this time".

Soul singer Seal has claimed Oprah Winfrey knew for years about Harvey Weinstein's abuses, and has slammed the talk show host for being "sanctimonious" and a hypocrite.

Politics has never been immune to other brands of magical thinking, and there are few more powerful ideas among voters than the notion that there's really nothing to being an officeholder, whether it's a member of Congress or the president.

"Yeah, I'll beat Oprah". Her longtime partner, Stedman Graham, and her close friend Gayle King have not done much to tamp down the chatter.

Trump, a billionaire TV star whose ascent to the presidency was fueled by name recognition, sheer wattage and personality, has long praised Winfrey, who shares numerous same qualities.

"I've got a strong feeling this woman should be the next President of the United States of America". Oprah, as she does, gave a stirring speech, this one weaving her own life experiences with those of pioneers like Sidney Poitier, Rosa Parks and Recy Taylor, while touching on the Hollywood sexual harassment scandal and the empowerment of women.

And if the Golden Globes are any predictor of what will happen in the next two years, expect to get real exhausted real fast by talk of President Oprah. That's why Trump's Twitter antics damage him, and it's why Oprah's delivery of an overblown speech in front of her cronies in Los Angeles could launch her.

Trump's kind words for Oprah are not new. "I don't know if we're prepared for that as a country", Kimmel told reporters at the Television Critics Association s press tour in Pasadena, California.
