Barcelona's Turan returns to Turkey on loan

Turan leaves Barcelona after two-and-a-half seasons at the club

FC Barcelona confirmed on Saturday that they have reached a deal with Turkish side Basaksehir to loan them Turkish global winger Arda Turan for the remainder of this season and for two more.

The Catalan giants took to their official website on Saturday to reveal that the out-of-favour winger would be heading back to his Turkish homeland after they reached an agreement with Basaksehir over his temporary transfer.

Basaksehir have risen rapidly over the last two seasons to rival the established Istanbul triumvirate of Besiktas, Fenerbahce and Galatasaray.

Club president Goksel Gumusdag said in a statement."Arda Turan is returning to his country wearing the orange kit (of Basaksehir)".

'Meanwhile, Istanbul Basaksehir will reserve the right to buy the player from Barcelona'.

Turan played his first Liga match with Barcelona on 9 January 2016, the 17th matchday of the season against Granada.

Turan joined Barcelona in 2015 from Atletico Madrid for £24.2m but with the arrival of club-record signing Philippe Coutinho, the 30-year-old has chose to pursue first-team opportunities in Turkey.

Spanish newspaper Sport last week estimated it cost Barca one million euros for each appearance made by Turan, taking into account an annual salary reported to be 8 million euros a year.

He quit global football last June after former coach Fatih Terim threw him out of a training camp following a fracas with a reporter on a plane.

The forward had featured 55 times across two seasons before that, although the first six months of his career with Barca were beset by the club's transfer embargo which prevented them from registering him.
