The mother of a man killed by police after a fake 911 call is demanding that authorities give her a chance to see her dead son, even as police detained a suspect for the so-called "swatting" prank.

Originally reported by the Los Angeles Times, the caller, now in police custody, will be held without the possibility of bail, and will be pending an extradition hearing that could see him being sent to Kansas in order to stand trial.

The goal of such calls is to get a SWAT team to respond, although Ramsey said none of the officers at the scene were SWAT team members. He was sentenced to two years in a California jail for phoning in false bomb threats in 2015 to the ABC Studios in Glendale, prompting an evacuation and a search with police dogs.

Andrew Finch, 28, was shot dead by a SWAT team officer, who was led to believe he was entering a risky hostage situation, last week. He was actually unarmed.

Police spokesman Charley Davidson said the department has not received Lisa Finch's letter and can not comment on it.

"Bomb threats are more fun and cooler than swats in my opinion and I should have just stuck to that", SWAuTistic said.

But the victim's mother says police share the blame.
