Manchester City could walk away from Sanchez deal

Sanchez, who is out-of-contract at the end of the season, has made it clear to Arsenal that he does not want to sign a new deal and wishes to leave - with City his preferred destination.

The English Premier League leaders feel the overall price for signing the Chile forward, transfer fee, agent costs and wage demands, is now too high.

A host of journalists, briefed by a Manchester City club official, have now revealed City's stance, which puts the Sanchez deal in jeopardy it would seem.

Sanchez is desperate to leave Arsenal in this transfer window and City accept their hardline stance may ultimately lead to their top transfer target joining United.

Arsene Wenger says Arsenal remain in talks with Mesut Ozil over a deal to keep him at the club beyond the end of the season.

The Alexis Sanchez to Manchester City saga has been going on for a long time now. However, during his pre-match presentation before the match against Bournemouth, Arsene Wenger went on to say, "Look, honestly, I can not tell you much more at the moment about this situation".

However, Arsenal's £35million asking price for Sanchez appears to be the sticking point for City with the Etihad unwilling to meet the Gunners' estimation.

"I don't know ethical or correct, the word we can find to be speaking about players of other clubs, if somebody speaks of one of my players to say we are interested, I wouldn't be very very happy".

Meanwhile, Mourinho has appeared to have confirmed his side's interest in Arsenal star after admitting that Sanchez is a "phenomenal player". "I said hello", replied Conte with a smile.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has conceded Alexis Sanchez could leave this month as long as he can bring in a replacement as he prepares for life after the Chile global.

"They're both back for us on the training pitch so we're pleased with that but we'll have to make a late decision on whether they will play".

"Of course I want a quick resolution", he told reporters at Arsenal's north London training base. There is always a way to find a balance.
