Bill Murray makes surprise 'SNL' appearance as Steve Bannon

Cast member Leslie Jones played Oprah in both cold open and Weekend Update

Former Not Ready for Primetime Player Bill Murray turned up in this weekend's cold open, portraying President Donald Trump's former chief strategist in a Morning Joe parody.

In the cold open, Joe Scarborough (Alex Moffat) and Mika Brzezinski (Kate McKinnon) discuss the week's headlines (and exhibit some sexual tension) before turning to interview author Michael Wolff (Fred Armisen) about his recent book Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House. "Trump would ask to have two babies placed in his office, usually of different ethnicities, someone would put a bowl of goldfish crackers on the other side of the room, and Trump would say, 'A thousand bucks on the black one'". Armisen replied, "Well, the worst one was the baby races".

Scarborough then confronts Wolff with the suggestion that some of the book's claims have been proven to be untrue, but the author suggests that isn't a problem.

Asked about inaccuracies, Armisen gave a perfectly Wolffian "You read it, right?" And you liked it?

"You got the gist, so shut up", Wolff said. "Even the stuff that's not true was true". Peeling back SNL's usual Grim Reaper hood to reveal his new form, Murray/Bannon talked about himself a bunch in the third person and protested that "no one gets the Bannon fired, no one".

Murray's Bannon also shares his future plans now that he's left Breitbart, which include a new show for Crackle called "Cucks in Cars Getting Coffee", creating "wrinkled barn jackets called Frumpers for guys", and a future skin care line called "Blotch".

Bannon said his next goal is to audition candidates to convince Americans to vote for. When asked about her own potential candidacy, she said, "I am a celebrity, so I'm qualified, but I am different from Donald Trump because I'm actually a billionaire".

Closing the segment out was a satanical Oprah Winfrey to play off the speculation that she could run for president in 2020.
