Iran threatens to seriously respond to United States sanctions against judiciary head

US President Donald Trump will extend sanctions relief granted to Iran under its 2015 nuclear deal with the United States and other world powers, leaving the accord intact for now, according to a person familiar with the decision.

In particular, Iran said the placing of judiciary chief Ayatollah Sadegh Larijani on the sanctions list "crossed all red lines of conduct in the global community. and the government of the United States will bear responsibility for all the consequences of this hostile move".

The International Atomic Energy Agency has said Iran is complying with the terms of the deal, but Trump has long called the agreement "the worst deal ever".

"This is a last chance".

Donald Trump has announced he will not reimpose economic sanctions on Iran in a move that keeps the nuclear deal in place, despite his repeated criticism.

Iran has said that it will retaliate against the sanctions imposed by the United States on the head of its judiciary, Ayatollah Sadeq Amoli-Larijani.

In a statement also released on Saturday, Iran's Foreign Ministry announced that the Islamic Republic would commit to no obligation beyond those it has already agreed to under the JCPOA.

Iran and the five permanent members of the United Nations Security Council - the United States, France, Britain, Russia and China - plus Germany signed the nuclear agreement on July 14, 2015 and started implementing it on January 16, 2016.

"I hereby call on key European countries to join with the United States in fixing significant flaws in the deal, countering Iranian aggression and supporting the Iranian people", Trump said in a statement.

However, the USA imposed fresh sanctions on 14 individuals and entities over alleged human rights abuses.

Trump was reportedly encouraged to waive the sanctions by Secretary of State Rex Tillerson and national security advisor H.R. McMaster, who warned the President that it would look like he was breaking the USA commitments of the deal.

Iran's Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said it was a "desperate attempt" to undermine a "solid" deal. Mr Trump also wants Iran's ballistic missile programme to be addressed.

In a statement later Friday Trump said those who do not work with him to amend the deal are effectively siding with Iran.

While Trump approved a sanctions waiver, the treasury department made a decision to impose new, targeted sanctions against 14 Iranian entities and people.

Despite the lopsided cohort in favor the deal, the president has continued to recoil at the prospect of extending sanctions to Iran given his personal animus toward the deal and campaign promise to rip up the worldwide accord during his first term in office.

"Fourth, the legislation must explicitly state in United States law-for the first time-that long-range missile and nuclear weapons programs are inseparable, and that Iran's development and testing of missiles should be subject to severe sanctions".

"These negotiations won't have any effect on our approach towards the nuclear deal and this whole situation".
