Trump again waives sanctions against Iran

The ultimatum puts pressure on Europeans - key backers and parties to the 2015 global agreement to curb Iran's nuclear program - to satisfy Trump, who wants the pact strengthened with a separate agreement within 120 days.

On Friday, Trump also approved new sanctions against Iranian officials and organizations, including Sadeq Larijani, the head of Iran's judiciary, and 13 other entities including the cyber unit of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.

China argues against Washington's unilateral anti-Tehran sanctions and speaks for implementation of the Iran nuclear deal, which "has not come by easily", Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Lu Kang told reporters on Saturday.

Calling it "a last chance", Trump said in a White House statement that his country "will not again waive sanctions in order to stay in the Iran nuclear deal". "Fourth, the legislation must explicitly state in United States law - for the first time - that long-range missile and nuclear weapons programmes are inseparable, and that Iran's development and testing of missiles should be subject to severe sanctions".

Earlier in October, Trump has threatened to terminate the 2015 Iran nuclear deal if Congress and United States allies fail to amend the agreement by fixing serious flaws in significant ways.

Mr. Le Drian called on all parties to uphold the agreement, noting that "our American allies should respect it as well".

Officials, congressional aides and outside administration advisers said had the president would likely extend the sanctions waivers, citing progress in amending USA legislation that governs Washington's participation in the deal.

The deal is "not renegotiable", Zarif said.

The agreement, known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, restricted Iran's controversial nuclear program in exchange for broad relief from global sanctions.

In addition, he wants the deal to state that Iran's nuclear effort and its missile programs are inseparable.

The new round of US sanctions could possibly include a ban on the purchase of Russian treasury bonds.

Waiving the big sanctions and slapping on some new small ones is a maneuver we've seen the Trump administration do before, as it deals with its dilemma on the nuclear deal.

The changes Trump has demanded include timely inspections of all sites requested by the International Atomic Energy Agency, reflecting a concern that Iran could be conducting nuclear research clandestinely at military sites.

Trump laid out conditions to keep Washington in the deal.

Iran has dismissed USA calls for the quit of missile program development, and it has stressed that its nuclear program is peaceful.

However, when Trump was elected, Riyadh and Tel Aviv found a new strong ally in their quest to discredit the deal and lobby the US government against the Iranian government.

A decision to withhold a waiver would have effectively ended the deal that limits Iran's nuclear program.

Moscow, for its part, warned Washington that going back on the deal would be a grave mistake.

That doesn't seem likely to happen; the other European nations in the agreement don't want to renegotiate the deal without Iran's consent - and Iran's foreign minister says the deal "is not renegotiable".

Trump alleged that Iranian regime is the world s leading state sponsor of terror and enables Hezbollah, Hamas, and many other terrorists to sow chaos and kill innocent people.

Trump's use of racist words have sparked criticism and the worldwide condemnation of the question.
