Montanan visiting Hawaii respond to the missile warning

Three minutes later, the agency had confirmed that there was in fact no missile threat.

As you may have heard, Hawaii was thrown into turmoil on Saturday morning, when at just after 8am local time, everyone on the archipelago received a message on their cellphone: "BALLISTIC MISSILE THREAT INBOUND TO HAWAII".

Officials said Saturday's false alert of a missile strike in Hawaii, which went uncorrected for almost 40 minutes, was caused by a state worker twice pressing the wrong button.

Officials' initial explanation was an employee had "pushed the wrong button".

On 14 January, a top U.S. official defended government early-warning systems after a false missile alert terrified Hawaii, in what was called an epic failure that emphasised the need for talks with North Korea.

Richard Rapoza, spokesman for the Hawaii Emergency Management System, declined to say Monday what the worker's new duties are.

A second alert was sent out at around 8.45am local time, letting residents know it was a false alarm.

About 1:10 p.m. ET - Trump has lunch inside the clubhouse of Trump International Golf Club.

Tulsi Gabbard, US Representative of Hawaii, issued her own advisory of the false alarm much earlier after directly checking with civil defence officials.

The false alert was accidentally sent out from Hawaii's Emergency Operations Center. Neither McMaster nor Kelly was traveling in Florida with Trump.

The federal government tracks North Korean missile launches through several means, including satellite surveillance, and officials around Trump would have known that no missile was detected.

Some states were reluctant to fully implement a system and that "decreases the capability for an integrated, interoperable, and nationwide alerting system", the report said. They promote the Fake Book of a mentally deranged author, who knowingly writes false information.

The US system was used successfully following the Boston Marathon attack and the 2016 NY bombing. Giuliani is walking with a cane. I love that they took responsibility. They returned to their hotel, where staff quickly took them to a basement cafeteria and distributed water and food, with the rush to the shelter causing "confusion", particularly for the children in the group. They went to their guest bedroom, then decided it would be safer on the ground floor of their Honolulu home. Their attitude and what they want to do, I think it's terrific. "They took responsibility. They made a mistake". "Some stations had one line and so we couldn't get through, but that's the stuff we have to work with the broadcasters association so we get boom, boom, boom, right away", said Vern Miyagi, administrator of HI-EMA.
