Colin Kaepernick says he's completing $1 million donation pledge

DEC. 24 2016 FILE

"I asked some of my friends what organizations I should donate to", said Kaepernick, adding that "first up" would be a suggestion made by Durant. Silicon Valley De-Bug got $10,000 today.

In 2016, Kaepernick originally announced that he would open his checkbook to help groups that stand up for women, children, poor people, minorities and military veterans.

According to Kaepernick, the final round of donations will come in the form of a 10-day initiative, in which he'll donate $10,000 to an organization that a celebrity will match.

Kaep also shared that KD was nice enough to match his $10,000 donation for a total of $20K going to De-Bug. Thank you brother for all the hard work!

Per reporting by Bay Area media outlets, it appears that one of Kaepernick's upcoming $10,000 donations will be matched by Curry and go to United Playaz, which describes itself as "a violence prevention and youth development organization that has worked in San Francisco for 20 years". "We love and appreciate you". "Tomorrow, I'll be announcing the final $100,000 to complete my Million Dollar Pledge". How the national anthem protests have evolved Since then, he has donated $900,000 to organizations fighting for social justice. Kaepernick said he was protesting racial inequality and police brutality, but his actions served to ignite a national political firestorm in which he and other NFL players who joined him in protest were characterized as unpatriotic.
