Four-goal Neymar booed by PSG fans

Four-goal Neymar booed by PSG fans

His treble, claimed at the end of a fine dribble, was complete not long after and there was still time for Kylian Mbappe, who had started on the bench, to fire a seventh goal beyond beleaguered Dijon goalkeeper Baptiste Reynet.

Neymar has once again irked the Paris Saint-Germain faithful despite putting in a five-star display against Dijon that included four goals from the Brazilian.

Edinson Cavani then equalled Zlatan Ibrahimovic's club record with his 156th goal for the club, before Neymar grabbed his first of the night just before half-time. PSG sits at the top of the table with 53 points and 17 wins.

Neymar may even have had five to his name had Di Maria not snuck in to double his own tally in the 15th minute, poking the ball over the line after Neymar had broken free of the defence and dinked his finish over the keeper.

Cavani's strike moved him further into the lead in the goalscoring rankings in the French top flight, taking him to the 20-goal mark - four more than his closest rival for the accolade, Monaco's Radamel Falcao.

Neymar allowed Cavani to take over free kick duties shortly after the hour mark and the striker - now in search of the outright record - nearly took full advantage with an effort which flew narrowly over the crossbar.

The Argentine made it 2-0 11 minutes later from point-blank range with Dijon in disarray.

PSG took a 1-0 win over Nantes on Sunday.

Neymar netted a hat-trick, scoring PSG's fourth, fifth and sixth goals on 42nd, 57th and 73rd minutes respectively.

PSG maintain their leadership in the league table as they take their points tally to 56, 11 points ahead of second place Lyon.
