Joel McHale to Host Weekly Netflix Unscripted Series

Hosted and executive produced by McHale, the half-hour topical series will take a humorous look at pop culture and global news.

The former The Soup emcee and Community star has landed a new Netflix series, fittingly titled The Joel McHale Show With Joel McHale.

In addition to hosting, McHale is executive producer, along with Bridesmaids and Ghostbusters director Paul Feig.

Joel McHale is getting back into the talk show game. Afterwards, he fielded a recurring role on Fox's revived The X-Files (which he reprises this season, ) and subsequently starred in CBS sitcom The Great Indoors, which was cancelled in 2017 after one 22-episode season. More recently, the service launched entries from Bill Nye and, with considerable fanfare, David Letterman.

For his part, Anderson shares not only a history with McHale but also a sensibility, a stand-up background and an ability to balance several projects at once. You probably remember him as the acerbic and witty host of E!'s The Soup, which ended in 2015, where he reviewed and provided commentary on Internet clips. Prior to that, he did stints on series including Politically Incorrect, Last Comic Standing, The Keenen Ivory Wayans Show and Mohr Sports.

The final episode of the long-running E! clip series will air on December 18.

McHale shared a teaser of the show on Twitter Friday, revealing his "new set" for the show: a green screen.
