Donald Trump unveiled the winners of his much-touted "Fake News Awards"

WORLD CNN tops'fake news list 19 Jan 2018 5:00am 2 minutes to read President Donald Trump

Six American media outlets came under attack by President and the GOP in an announcement styled as a "Fake News Awards". The term is now popularly related to news with which one does not agree with.

On Tuesday night, USA comedians used the prospect of the awards to ridicule the president.

Over on CBS, Stephen Colbert decided he wanted to present "even fakier awards than President Trump has awarded himself".

Meanwhile the "winners" of the spoof awards included top networks and newspapers CNN, The New York Times and The Washington Post, all of which have been regular targets of Trump's ire.

At third place was CNN's report about Trump and his son, Donald J. Trump Jr., being involved with the hacked documents from WikiLeaks, while TIME followed with their news of the US president taking out the statue of Martin Luther King from the Oval Office. Meanwhile, another reader of Trump's announcement became critical of him for allegedly colluding with Russian Federation.

Washington Post was next with their news of the President Trump's rally in Pensacola having little attendees, followed by CNN's report of the USA president over-feeding the fish during his visit with Japan's prime minister.

"ISIS is in retreat, our economy is booming, investments and jobs are pouring back into the country, and so much more!".

Critics have seen the "awards" as another attempt by Trump to undermine the free press.

On Sunday, Arizona Senator Jeff Flake discussed pre-released segments of a speech he is due to give on Wednesday in which he will criticize the Trump administration.

"It is a testament to the condition of our democracy that our own president uses words infamously spoken by Josef Stalin to describe his enemies".

"Despite some very corrupt and dishonest media coverage, there are many great reporters I respect and lots of GOOD NEWS for the American people to be proud of!" He has said he lost the election because undocumented people voted by the millions.
