Over 300000 people in attendance at Chicago Women's March

Thousands across the country on Saturday participated in the second annual Women's March, which this year focused on registering voters ahead of the upcoming midterm elections.

President Donald Trump addressed the Women's Marches past year by suggesting that the hundreds of thousands of people who turned out should have expressed their feelings toward him at the ballot box.

While I can't be at the march in Chicago today, just know that I will be voting for candidates that truly want change and will listen to all voices in America. not just a select few voices. In New York, 82,000 people have registered as "interested" in attending on the event's Facebook page.

"The most powerful thing that I heard from those in my classroom when I disclosed to them for the first time was 'me too, '" one woman told the crowd. The march in New York City started at 12:30 p.m.

Murphy's husband Phil Murphy was sworn in as New Jersey's governor earlier this month. She said she was walking along a path when a man grabbed her and pulled her into some bushes. Women in the USA illegally, sex workers and those formerly incarcerated are welcome, she said.

Boyd says that while the march wasn't focused on one issue like the Women's March in Washington, D.C., the sentiment and the concerns are the same, "if not higher", she added.

Organisers hope to build on efforts that have pushed women's issues to the forefront during the politically chaotic year since US President Donald Trump took office. On his inauguration, angry Americans staged demonstrations around the country to express their disdain for Trump.

Oklahoma City protesters chanted "We need a leader, not a creepy tweeter!"

"The women who are faceless".

In New York, Whoopi Goldberg, Rosie Perez and Halsey were among the speakers at a rally in Columbus Circle, while Natalie Portman, Scarlett Johansson and Viola Davis addressed crowds in Los Angeles.

According to U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics data, the unemployment rate for women aged 20 and older has been falling steadily since 2012, years before Trump took office.

The march attracted over 250,000 participants in 2017, and following a year where the #MeToo movement dominated headlines, organizers expected a large turnout again this year.

In Palm Beach, Florida, home to Trump's Mar-a-Lago estate, several hundred people gathered carrying anti-Trump signs before marching. Here, women head toward Columbus Circle in Manhattan.

Cathy Muldoon, a high school librarian from Dallas, Pennsylvania, took her two teenage daughters to the NY rally and said marching gives people hope.

"While we have this President celebrating his one-year anniversary, let's give him an "F" for his performance", Democrat Nancy Pelosi told a Washington crowd. "I have the gene that leads to breast cancer", Jamie Pleva said. "Everything is moving toward the right, and we have a president who seems to have no decency".

In the year since, women's issues have received massive amounts of global attention due to the #MeToo and Time's Up movements, which were aimed at raising awareness of women's stories of sexual assault, harassment and workplace impropriety.

Argento, an actress who was among the first women to accuse movie producer Weinstein of assault, was a star of the Rome rally.
