New iOS update lets users stop Apple from slowing down phones

Apple confirms iPhone source code leak

Apple will reportedly port animoji over to the iPad, and improve the So Not Diatub functionality of the iPhone.

Apple's decision for delaying a handful of new features and shifting its focus to under-the-hood changes is that the fast-paced schedule of adding new come at the expense of performance and buggy software.

In prior years, Apple has, along side the new iPhone, released an iOS which is assigned "tentpole features" to help in the company's marketing of the phone.

However, pushing back major features for later updates doesn't mean iOS 12 won't bring anything new to the table. Instead of releasing major updates every year, Apple is planning to opt for a two-year plan for macOS and iOS.

In other (bigger) news, Apple is now working on a FaceTime update that will finally let you call multiple people at once.

Just 65 percent of iOS users have embraced Apple's latest mobile operating system, iOS 11, compared to 79 percent for its predecessor last February - according to Apple's developer website. One of the most interesting, Gurman says, will enable developers to create apps that work on both macOS and iOS.

Piggybacking off of that expanded camera technology, Apple is reportedly working on multiplayer modes for augmented reality games that would allow multiple people to play the mixed reality games at the same time.

The source code for iBoot, the secure boot portion of Apple's iOS operating system, was leaked by a low-level intern at the company as a favour to his security researcher friends, according to anonymous sources speaking to Motherboard.

With the new strategy of unveiling fewer features annually, iOS users will have to wait until 2019 for any significant iPad-focused software upgrades. The code was posted to GitHub and had been downloaded by many before Apple's DMCA took effect.

Apple software chief Craig Federighi apparently told his engineers about the change last month, and the effects should be seen in the iOS update that's coming this fall. There could also be a digital health tool offering parents an insight into how much time their children have been watching TV. It may also integrate Animojis into FaceTime, letting people put virtual faces over themselves during video calls. Unlike Google, which introduces new capabilities in a piecemeal fashion as individual apps are updated, Apple goes for an all-or-nothing approach.
