Spyro the Dragon Trilogy Remaster Reportedly in the Works

Spyro Trilogy Remaster Coming to PS4 This Year

The game will reportedly bundle together Spyro's three PlayStation 1 appearances, including Spyro the Dragon, Ripto's Rage!, and Year of the Dragon.

According to a report in Kotaku which cites "multiple sources familiar with the project", Activision is planning on giving the purple dragon the Crash Bandicoot treatment with an original trilogy remaster.

Multiple sources, according to Kotaku UK, have confirmed that the Spyro Trilogy will stick close to the formula that the N.Sane Trilogy found so much success with previous year. So in 2019, it will likely begin to roll out on other platforms.

Back in 1998, Spyro was a breakout character on the original Playstation, as gamers were invited to take control of the adorable title character as he attempted to save his fellow dragons, recover treasures, and overcome Gnasty Gnorc.

Sane Trilogy becoming the best-selling PlayStation 4 exclusive of past year, you really didn't need any rumours to imagine that Spyro The Dragon would be next.

"Sane Trilogy", this "Spyro the Dragon" remaster is said to arrive with new assets, lighting, animations and cinematics.

Video game publisher Activision successfully brought back "Crash Bandicoot" past year with the "N". This could include the hidden Dragonfly Eggs that were only included in the Japanese release, or certain cut content like the Dino Mines battle arena.

Sony's PlayStation 4 will enjoy a full year of exclusivity for the Spyro remake. Still, with these sources expecting a March 2018 reveal, it isn't going to be long before we find out if this report is accurate, so stay tuned. That success may also lead Activision to revisit other franchises from the past, with the next rumored to be the original Spyro trilogy. We're still in rumor territory here, but Dale says she's received confirmation from numerous sources, and a Spyro remake just makes sense, given N.

To date, the Spyro series has sold more than 20 million units worldwide.
