The Senate Intelligence Committee and the Senate Judiciary Committee are expected to continue hearing witnesses in the Russian Federation probe.
The House Intelligence Committee's investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 U.S. Presidential Election and potential collusion between members of the Trump campaign and Russian officials may be nearing its end as the committee will not hear from any more witnesses, The Wall Street Journal reported Monday. He has said he has seen "more than circumstantial evidence" of collusion but has refused to explain what evidence he has seen.
As a result of the controversy around the memos, the committee's two wings have become so intractable that CNN reported the committee is likely to produce two separate reports - one from the Republicans that denies that any collusion took place, and another from Democrats that argues that some form of collusion may have occurred.
Meanwhile, the Senate Intelligence Committee's investigation will continue and is not expected to end soon.
Reports that the committee may be wrapping up the probe follow comments by Republicans who said the investigation had just about run its course.
The majority staff on the committee is expected to send the draft report to the minority staff, led by ranking member Adam Schiff, D-Calif., on Tuesday.
A source close to the committee leadership, though, told Fox News that the Democrats on the committee likely would disagree with the majority report. Trump, meanwhile, has continued to deny any collusion between his campaign and Russian Federation for the goal of targeting Democratic opponent Hillary Clinton and benefiting of his campaign. Conaway and Schiff do plan to speak on Monday, another source said.
The report also included more than 25 recommendations for Congress and the executive branch to improve election security, US government response to cyberattacks, campaign finance transparency, and counterintelligence practices related to political campaigns and unauthorized disclosures. Once Manafort was indicted in Special Counsel Robert Mueller's investigation, the committee decided not to call him for an interview. They said that the final interviews were rushed and the committee was too lenient in its questioning of witnesses.
