Nicolas Cage Is Finally Getting The Chance To Play Superman (Sort Of)

Cage nearly portrayed the superhero for Tim Burton back in the late 1990s, but the project was ultimately scrapped.

Teen Titans Go! To the Movies will be the first theatrical release based on a Warner Bros. animated series since 1993's Mask of the Phantasm, based on Batman: The Animated Series.

DC's live-action movies have succumbed to doom and gloom lately, but Teen Titans Go to the Movies might reverse all that.

Teen Titans GO! to the Movies will star our favorite Teen Titans' characters, but also add Wonder Woman, Superman and Green Lantern, who will be played by Halsey, Nicolas Cage and Lil' Yachty, respectively.

Cage has claimed in the past that the version of Superman Lives that people now see in their imaginations when they picture the movie is far better than it would have been in practice.

"Every superhero in the DC Universe has an impact on the fans", executive producer Sam Register told USA Today, "so we felt a great responsibility to find a voice for each character that would not only suit the role, but the playful tone of the Titans, and we're thrilled with our cameo cast".

To put Cage's fandom into perspective, his son is named Kal-El, and he once owned a pricey and rare issue of the comic series that he eventually sold for $2.1 million. Instead, this Man of Steel will be filtered through the ridiculous prism of the Teen Titans' cartoonish world.

Other actors who make up the all-star cast are Scott Menville as Robin, Khary Payton as Cyborg, Hynden Walch as Starfire, Greg Cipes as Beast Boy and Tara Strong as Raven, also joined by Will Arnett. Believe it or not, the studio pulled the plug on that one just days before shooting was set to commence, making it one of the hottest pieces of trivia in superhero film history, with even a documentary about it having been produced in the time since. But when the group is radically misdirected by a seriously super villain and his maniacal plan to take over the Earth, things really go awry.
