He also wrote all seven episodes of the HBO miniseries Big Little Lies, which won an Emmy for Kidman past year in the role of abused wife Celeste Wright.

For HBO, The Undoing joins a roster of drama originals that also includes Game of Thrones, Westworld, The New Pope, J.J.

Based on Jean Hanff Korelitz's 2014 novel You Should Have Known, the limited run series follows Grace Sachs, a therapist whose picture-perfect Upper East Side foundation is suddenly shaken when a fellow mother is found dead - and Grace's husband is suddenly unreachable. Kelly will serve as executive producer, writer, and showrunner. Grace seemingly has it all: her dream career, a book that's on the brink of flying onto shelves, a devoted husband, and a son who's getting the best education at an elite New York City-based private school. Kidman again executive produces with Per Saari through their Blossom Films alongside another BLL executive producer, Bruna Papandrea, vie Made Up Stories.

"We're thrilled to continue our creative relationships with both Nicole and David", said Casey Bloys, president, HBO programming "and can't wait to bring this show to life". The adaptation was written by David E. Kelley.

"Weeks before her book is published, a chasm opens in her life: a violent death, a missing husband, and, in the place of a man Grace thought she knew, only a chain of awful revelations", said HBO in a press release.

And it wasn't just the network excited to see the adaptation take off, with Nicole sharing her excitement as well.

Appearing on Late Night With Seth Myers last Thursday, Big Little Lies co-star and co-producer Reese Witherspoon revealed the pair, along with new cast member Meryl Streep, would be starting filming their second series this week. "I'm excited and honoured to continue collaborating with HBO and David E Kelley".

Kidman won an Emmy for her performance in Big Little Lies.
