Sealing drive: 1675 business establishments in Delhi sealed till Mar 9

Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal visiting the shops which were sealed by MCD Near Pul Mithaiwala in New Delhi

While Kejriwal previously assured them of all help and even wrote to PM Narendra Modi, he has now called for an all-party meeting in a letter which read that 'there is a need for us to rise above party lines to find a solution to the sealing issue.' He has also requested that only three members of each party attend the meeting 'so that we can come to a fruitful solution'.

After the meeting, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia and Delhi Congress chief Ajay Maken both said in separate statements that the AAP and Congress MPs in Parliament will raise the issue.

Taking a dig at Tiwari, senior AAP leader Saurabh Bharadwaj tweeted, "Whole Delhi desperately seeking solution for Sealing".

Reacting to the government's move, Tiwari said, "It is clearly established before the traders and people of Delhi that the Arvind Kejriwal government not only neglected its duty on protecting the traders from sealing but it also complicated the issue to an extent that Centre is also facing difficulties in bringing an end to the sealing crisis". Even though BJP was also invited to this all-party meeting, it boycotted it.

"There are some issues on which we should not do party politics", he said.

A total of 1,675 business establishments were sealed across the Delhi from January 23rd till March 9 in the ongoing sealing drive by the BJP led MCD, information released by the corporation said on Tuesday.

He alleged that through the sealing drive, the BJP wanted to pave the way for foreign direct investments in retail in the national capital. The meeting lasted nearly for an hour and was fruitful, Maken said.

Sisodia said the BJP could resolve the issue "immediately" if it wanted to."The BJP has the government at the Centre".

The protest is being organised to oppose the sealing drive unleashed by the municipal corporations on direction of the Supreme Court-appointed monitoring committee.

Health Minister Satyendar Jain and Development Minister Gopal Rai were among others attending the meeting.

Delhi Chief Secretary Anshu Prakash was allegedly assaulted by AAP MLAs during a meeting at the chief minister's residence in the evening of February 19.

Meanwhile, traders protested in various markets across the city today as part of a day-long bandh called by an industry body against the drive.

The sealing drive is being carried out on the order of the Supreme Court over "misuse of premises".
