The wounded CRPF personnel were evacuated to Raipur in helicopter and admitted at a super speciality hospital.

Officials said the incident occurred around 12:30 pm along the district's Kistaram-Palodi road when troops of the CRPF's 212th battalion were out on an operation.

As per the reports, the rebels used a lot of explosives to blow up the vehicle and just after the incident reinforcement was rushed to the spot to investigate and rescue operation for some survived injuries.

The injured personnel were being rescued from the spot and airlifted to the State capital.

The blast was followed by a heavy exchange of fire between the security forces and the Maoists in which the Maoists also suffered a severe blow, said Vivekanand Sinha, Inspector General (IG) of Police, Bastar.

"Today's IED blast in Sukma, Chhattisgarh is deeply distressing".

The attack comes almost 11 months after 25 CRPF jawans were killed by a gang of nearly 300 Naxals at a construction site in Sukma.

On March 2, 10 Maoists and a constable of elite commando force Greyhounds were killed in an encounter in the forests of Chhattisgarh's Bijapur district, bordering Telangana.
