Aaron Rodgers on Jordy Nelson's exit: 'Definitely a sad day'

The Green Bay Packers have released fan and team favorite Jordy Nelson and, according to reports, signed TE Jimmy Graham and DE Muhammad Wilkerson.

If that's a little too vague for you, the veteran quarterback's Twitter activity also suggested he's not thrilled with the Packers cutting Nelson.

He would not address whether Nelson discussed a pay cut with the team before his release.

In his first three seasons in the National Football League with the Eagles, Matthews would catch 225 passes for 2,673 yards and 20 touchdowns with an average of 11.9 yards per catch. Nelson missed an entire season in 2015 after tearing his ACL, while Rodgers has missed 16 games - equal to an entire season - with two different collarbone fractures over the last five years. However, if there's any offense that can find a way to utilize Nelson in the best fashion, it would be Bill Belichick and the Patriots.

The most prolific quarterback, wide receiver duo in Packers history is no more. Former Jaguars receiver Allen Robinson will reportedly get a three-year, $42 million deal from the Chicago Bears. Adams signed a four-year, $58 million contract extension in December. He'll visit the team's Alameda complex on Wednesday afternoon, according to the Las Vegas Review Journal, and meet up with some old friends. The Packers are loading up on both ends of the ball this offseason but the subtraction of Nelson should equal the addition of Matthews.

Crabtree caught 58 passes for 518 yards and eight touchdowns last season, serving as Carr's primary red zone threat.

Nelson lost some of the speed that made him so effective as a deep threat, though his size (6-foot-3) made him more effective on the outside than the much smaller Cobb (5-foot-10). His release would come with no dead money against the cap. Head coach Jon Gruden has singled out Crabtree as one of the reasons he took the Raiders job in the first place. "Jordy Nelson is one of the great Packers who have played here".

So where will Nelson end up in 2018?
