Numerous injuries reported when school van, semi crash in west-central Minn

The woman driving the van - named as Judith Van Eps, 68, by KARE11 - is thought to be in a stable condition.

A news release says "many responder units" were sent because of reports of numerous injuries. On Monday, March 12th at 3:42 pm the Swift County Sheriff office received a 911 call of a two vehicle crash at County Road 20 and County Road 63 NW, Danvers, MN.

A number of children and one adult were injured Monday afternoon following a collision between a semi-truck and a school van. These are the last updated conditions that the Swift County Sheriff's Office is aware of.

The accident happened in rural Danvers, about 12 minutes from Hancock where the students are in school. The van was southbound on a gravel road when it entered the intersection, and the semi, pulling an empty grain trailer eastbound on a paved road, struck the van on the passenger side. The semi did not have a yield sign and was traveling about 50 miles per hour, according to investigators.

He says investigators are now trying to determine via Minnesota law whether the students should have been buckled up.

The Swift County Sheriff says there are no fatalities "as of right now" in a crash involving a school van and a semi in western Minnesota.

"We are working diligently with local authorities to make sure that student and family needs are immediately addressed", Hacker said in a statement. "I don't know how else to describe that".

Sheriff Holtz said the children involved were between 8 and 16 years old, and some of them were siblings. "Hug each other. Love conquers all".

'It's very traumatic, ' he said. The incident is still under investigation by the Swift County Sheriff's department and the MN State Patrol.

A fund to benefit the families of the crash victims has been set up at the Community Development Bank in Hancock.
