'Russia, get ready': Trump says 'nice and new' missiles will strike Syria

Trump further chided Russian Federation for its support of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad in Wednesday's tweet, saying it "shouldn't be partners with a Gas Killing Animal who kills his people and enjoys it!"

Russian lawmakers have warned the United States that Moscow would view an airstrike on Syria as a war crime, saying it could trigger a direct military clash between the two former Cold War adversaries.

Moscow and Washington halted attempts by each other in the UN Security Council (UNSC) to set up global investigations into chemical weapons attacks in Syria, which is in the throes of a seven-year-old civil war.

Macron also said France, the USA and Britain would decide how to respond in the coming days.

At another point, Trump blamed the bad relationship on Special Counsel Robert Mueller and his investigation into links between the Trump campaign and Russians who sought to influence the 2016 presidential election through hacks and fake news.

The apparent decision by the White House to conduct a missile strike comes after Russian Federation claimed the Syrian government shot down several Israeli cruise missiles over the weekend.

The threat is a response to a reported chemical weapons attack on the Syrian town of Douma, which was held by the rebel forces.

USA and Russian forces most recently clashed in February, when US strikes killed dozens of Russian citizens helping Syria's government attack a rebel base. He described the attack as "sick" and criticized Russian President Vladimir Putin and Iran for supporting Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.

Before his White House trip, Mattis told reporters that the U.S.is still assessing intelligence as to whether the Assad regime is responsible for the gas attack that killed anti-government rebels and their children.

The President and his inner circle are reportedly considering a much larger strike on Syria than the one on April 7, 2017, where 59 cruise missiles briefly disabled an airbase suspected of playing a role in a chemical attack.

"We're making decisions as to what we do with respect to the terrible attack", Trump said Monday. The U.S., Britain and France voted against both measures but didn't have to use their vetoes.

The Syrian government denies being behind any use of chemical weapons. France is already involved in the US -led coalition created in 2014 to fight the Islamic State group in Syria and Iraq.

The Assad government and Russian Federation both urged the OPCW to investigate the allegations of chemical weapons use in Douma, a move by the two countries that was apparently aimed at averting any USA -led action.

Theresa May is planning to join the U.S. in taking military action in Syria without a vote in Parliament, according to a new report from the BBC. He said any action would "target chemical weapons" stocks.

Trump spoke by phone with British Prime Minister Theresa May.

"People say Trump is insane and he would like to carry out his threats", the woman said. Qatar hosts the United States' main air operations center for the Middle East, which would coordinate any American air attack in Syria.

She defended the president's threats toward Russian Federation, saying that he isn't telegraphing any military action by tweeting his thoughts.

On Wednesday, the World Health Organization said it was "deeply alarmed by the reports of the suspected use of toxic chemical" in Douma.

Trump said that he would make a decision about how to respond within a few days, adding that the United States had "a lot of options militarily" on Syria.
