Thursday's Wake-Up Weather: Hot and windy today!

Today's weather outlook

The frontal passage will lead to much cooler temperatures on Sunday and Monday, with highs only in the low-to-mid-60s and morning lows on Monday in the upper-30s. There were even some upper teens across the Poconos. Mostly cloudy, with a high at 79. Temperatures will rebound quite nicely though with highs back into the 70s by Tuesday and then the 80s by Wednesday.

Strong south winds will remain again today with gusts near 35 to 40 miles per hour and this should prompt another wind advisory for part of the region along with the increasing fire spread potential due to the winds. Still be sure to stay weather aware on Saturday and keep up to date with the latest forecast.

Overnight lows will drop down into the low to mid 60's, skies will be cloudy with those winds from the south. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms. The rest of next week temperatures will be slightly below average in the lower to mid 50s.

A cold front should push across the state Friday night and that will shift our winds to the northwest. Highs will reach the upper 70's Thursday and around 80 for Friday with a breezy South wind. We will also continue to have a southwesterly breeze. Thankfully the front doesn't stall and linger like the last few have, but will leave the area by Sunday ushering in significantly cooler and drier air. The rain will continue Sunday night into Monday. Wind chills will be in the single digits on Friday due to the strong north winds. Very windy. Colder. Lows 20 to 26.
