'Yodeling kid' Mason Ramsey trades Walmart for the Grand Ole Opry

Mason Ramsey 11 from Harrisburg Illinois has become an internet sensation known as the ‘Walmart Yodeling Boy

Mason Ramsey, an 11-year-old singer and yodeller from Golconda, Illinois, has breathed renewed life into country icon Hank Williams" "Lovesick Blues', which now sits at No 3 on Spotify's Viral 50 chart for the United States and at No 4 internationally.

Released in 1949, "Lovesick Blues" became William's first song to top Billboard's country singles chart, and remains one of Williams' biggest hit songs to date, though there's no doubt Ramsey has helped popularise it in this current moment. His interview and performance were pretty adorable, and his biggest fans - the people of Twitter - were there to watch.

After the show, DeGeneres took to social media to brag about the boy.

Ramsey, who described himself as "a country boy" who enjoys taking naps on bales of hay, took the internet by storm when he was captured yodeling "Lovesick Blues" by Hank Williams Sr.in his local Walmart. "You are not going to believe this kid". He's also not totally sold on the Los Angeles lifestyle. And in pure Ellen fashion, DeGeneres had a few surprises up her sleeve for the budding viral country star. The youngster even put his grandfather on blast when Ellen asked if he was also good at yodeling.

DeGeneres told Ramsey that he would be performing at the Grand Ole Opry for a massive concert, which is Ramsey's dream. In 1925, future Country Music Hall of Fame member, record producer and talent scout Ralph Peer cut four songs by falsetto-singing minstrel performer Emmett Miller for Okeh Records.
