David Pastrnak's Stellar Game 1 Performance Leads Bruins To Win Vs. Leafs

Boston Bruins winger Ryan Donato

With three days between games for the first time since late February, the Bruins were confident that their bad habits developed in the final weeks of the regular season, such as spotting the opposition early leads, would not bleed into the postseason.

Prior to their game, the Boston Bruins announced their lines for game one and there are some slight changes from the beginning of the week.

The Bruins and Maple Leafs will face off at the Garden once again on Saturday for Game 2.

Bruins center Riley Nash is not yet ready to return, Cassidy said. Very [difficult]. Played very well for us. "We tried to simplify it and I think that we did a good job".

"Everyone bought in, we managed it well, and off we went". "[He] worked out today, will skate tomorrow, but won't play tomorrow". Marchand and Bergeron put on a clinic in playoff hockey - winning every fight for the puck and keeping it in the Leafs zone nearly all of the time.

Goalies_Toronto, Andersen 0-1 (40 shots-35 saves). It could have been the start of something risky for the Bruins, too, had there been more than three minutes remaining in the period.

"Huge", Krejci said of the second-period kills. "That just pumps me up and I'm sure I speak for a lot of other guys".

For as much as the Bruins controlled the first half of the period, the tide started to turn later, as the Maple Leafs almost tied it after Jake Gardiner stole the puck at the blue line and was able to set up and unleash a slap shot that rung off the post.

The Boston Bruins remember what happened last time they met Toronto in the National Hockey League playoffs. "But it is an opportunity to establish the way you want to play, dictate the pace and your style of play".

It seemed whenever one of the Big Show members got the puck in the offensive zone, another got open. 2, Toronto, Hyman 1 (Brown, Rielly), 16:52. The line had 13 shots on goal. Just plain clowning the Tomas Plekanec line around in the attacking zone, Pastrnak's first try from between the circles. And he's already kissed Leo Komarov.

This time, and on an unsettled puck, Pastrnak did not miss. Twenty-four seconds later, the puck was in the net with Marchand wheeling behind lumbering Leafs defenceman Roman Polak for the goal after taking a nifty pass from defenceman Torey Krug.

Kadri took two penalties, both boarding and against Tommy Wingels, the second of which earned him a game misconduct, and after Drew Doughty was suspended earlier in the day, the sequence of events that unfolded in the third should draw another one.

The Bruins went on a five-minute major, and Krejci capitalized as he scored on a shot he tucked off Andersen's pad for a power-play goal. Kadri said he wasn't trying to hit Wingels while he was down; the replay makes it look like he stared him down the whole way. "It's hard to be patient in my role". As Hainsey put it, "it felt like we spent vast majority of the game on our half of the ice".

Pastrnak tallied his third point with an assist on Sean Kuraly's third-period goal, which put the B's up 4-1 and ended any chance of a Leafs comeback.

The Bruins will look for a 2-0 series lead with a Saturday night head-to-head at a surely rockin' TD Garden.
