Seahawks postpone Kaepernick workout, question anthem intentions

The Seahawks, who remain thin at quarterback, haven't ruled out working out Kaepernick in the future.

Free agent quarterback Colin Kaepernick was set to workout for the Seattle Seahawks this week but the trip was postponed after he declined to stop kneeling during the national anthem next season, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

He went undrafted in 2014, but signed with the Jaguars as a free agent. According to NFL.com, he has also spent time with the Philadelphia Eagles, Indianapolis Colts and Washington Redskins, who waive him past year.

The Seahawks had contacted Kaepernick about two weeks ago to arrange a visit to the team's headquarters, but after tentative arrangements were made and travel was planned, the trip was unexpectedly scuttled over the Seahawks' last-minute stipulation regarding Kaepernick's anthem stance, a source told ESPN. The Redskins signed him to a reserve/futures contract in January, then waived him this past Monday.

It is being reported that Kaepernick refused to pledge to stand for the national anthem, while the Seahawks also asked "for his plan moving forward on how to handle everything" but got nothing in response.

Kaepernick sat for his deposition with National Football League lawyers in NY on Tuesday in the grievance case he filed against the National Football League in October.

Seattle recently cut Trevonne Boykin, their backup quarterback to Russell Wilson, over allegations of domestic violence. That said, the Seahawks are reportedly still considering bringing him in for a workout.
