Apple warns its employees on leaking information

Apple in a lengthy memo posted to its internal blog said it ‘caught 29 leakers,’ last year and 12 of them were arrested

There were leaks past year that Apple was planning a third color for iPhone X, but the company ended up launching the device in just two (Space Gray and Silver). In another case, details about an unreleased software package were leaked, which gave away secrets about the Apple iPhone X and the most recent Apple Watch prior to their introductions.

A few days ago, Apple CEO Tim Cook pointed out that Apple would stand to gain a lot from monetizing user data, but that they don't do so because they value their users' privacy. 12 of those were arrested.

In a leaked internal memo, the company had reportedly told employees it "caught 29 leakers" a year ago and 12 were arrested. He also said the CEOs approached Apple to find a middle ground for the case by inking a licensing deal, but the USA firm has rejected the offer.

Apple has chose to harsh on its employees who leak the information, the company had issued an internal memo regarding this notice to all the members of their firm. Now, Apple Store employees have admitted that the Cupertino-based company is hiring external contractors to assist the Apple Store employees. But, in this instance, Apple and the FCC have done the "leaking".

They said Apple could make an announcement about iTunes music downloads being stopped in early 2019 or by March 31 next year. "These people not only lose their jobs, they can face extreme difficulty finding employment elsewhere".

Every Apple launch is covered by the select press invited to such events like it's a holy event, and with a blinkered positivity from many about what are often deeply flawed products. "And they're getting caught faster than ever".

Advanced technology is now making it easier for companies to catch leakers.

The memo said "leakers in the supply chain" were also getting caught, adding: "Leakers do not simply lose their jobs at Apple. In some cases, they face jail time and massive fines for network intrusion and theft of trade secrets both classified as federal crimes", the memo read.

The memo also points to more examples of how Apple's internal security has caught people who believed they could get away with it - including the person who leaked the link to the gold master of iOS 11, and those who leaked within the supply chain.

In 2017, Apple caught 29 leakers. They are the result of a decision by someone who may not have considered the impact of their actions. "The best way to honor those contributions is by not leaking".
