Google's Gmail set to get a major update

However, there is one big concern surrounding the new feature which is - although Google does not allow printing, copying, or pasting of the email content there are no measures whatsoever to prevent the receiver from screenshotting the email.

Beyond that, judging by screenshots sent to TechCrunch, Gmail users will be able to choose when the email expires and disappears into the ether.

Google revealed yesterday that it's planning to launch a new Gmail design in the coming weeks. Before sending an email, users will be able to specify a time frame post which, the email will be deleted from the recipient's inbox.

"We're working on some major updates to Gmail (they're still in draft phase)", a Google spokesperson said.

Most of us check emails on the go using our mobile devices, with this in mind Google will want to make the web version look and work similarly to the mobile version.

The "More Results" button will appear for users across iOS and Android platforms using the Google app.

Google has mailed to all G-Suite users about the implementation of the new design.

But, this feature hasn't been rolled out yet, and, is now only available to those who have enrolled in the beta program.

Google is also keen to lure in more developers to build an app for Gmail Add-ons. A compact view will look similar to the current version of Gmail but with less vertical whitespace; a default view highlights attachments such as images or documents; and a comfortable view doesn't highlight attachments. G Suite customers apparently received word about this Gmail redesign - so check your inbox ASAP because there's another important feature to take note of: emails self-destruct. Google will host its flagship conference on 8 May, expect more announcements and an official unveiling after the show. According to Android Authority, a trusted source offered the early look at the Gmail redesign, which confirmed reports of features such as Smart Reply, email snoozing, and a sidebar that provides easy access to Google apps such as Calendar.
