Star Wars Battlefront 2's Next Update Lets You Play As An Ewok

Microtransactions are set to return to Star Wars Battlefront 2

EA has announced that, starting on April 18th, Battlefront II players will have the option to play a limited-time mode, and unlock special Appearances via Crystals and/or Credits, in the new "Star Wars Battlefront II Night on Endor". Over 50 additional Appearances to personalize your units will be made available in this update.

Set during the events of Return of the Jedi, Ewok Hunt is a last-man-standing battle pitting players on either side of the imperial occupation of Endor's moon. It sounds like a lot of fun and nearly like a horror film for the hopeful survivors to have knee-high, furry Odd-Jobs running around with all of their bloodlust. Each defeated stormtrooper spawns as another Ewok, multiplying until the Empire's forces have been completely eliminated, and the Ewok celebration can begin. Thankfully, Crystals can now only be spent on cosmetic "Appearances" - they can no longer be used to get weapons or Star Cards. Similarly players will be able to earn crystals by beating in-game milestones.

This new Star Wars Battlefront 2 update is coming soon so more details will be posted once it goes live.

As well as bringing back microtransactions, the Endor update will also introduce a brand new multiplayer mode called Ewok Hunt.

What makes it worse (for the stormtroopers at least) is that the mode also takes a page out of Halo's "Infection" gametype.

Remember that there's a new Challenge every day and a bonus one over each weekend. We've also increased the stun duration from 0.5 to 0.9 seconds. This became confusing and rarely did it play out as we originally intended. We have improved the melee combat responsiveness for all melee attacks including things like lightsabers and Phasma's staff attack.

After the Night on Endor update though EA are hoping to draw a line under the whole debacle, with all the new content after this being classified as "season two".
