If you're wondering what models are regarded as eligible devices, you should note it down that the Apple Watch Series 2 in 42mm size which can be the Sports, Nike+, Hermes or even the Apple Watch Edition variant.

According to an internal document first obtained by MacRumors, which was distributed to certain Apple Stores and authorised service providers, the fix covers only 42mm-sized Series 2 units covering all its models - Sport, Edition, Hermes and Nike+.

The Cupertino giant will fix select Apple Watch Series 2 models that have a swollen battery or do not power on for free, according to a new service policy witnessed by MacRumors.

Additionally, force-restarting the device, done by pressing and holding both the side button and digital crown for 10 seconds until the Apple logo appears.

Apple released the Apple Watch Series 2 in September of 2016, so the oldest models at this point are around 19 months old. Warranty status does not matter for this issue.

Users on forums such as Reddit and Apple's support website have noted of instances where their Apple Watch battery seemingly expanded without reason. - Apple will authorize coverage for eligible devices for three years after the original date of purchase.

Apple implemented a similar policy regarding those as well. Apple will also fix watches when the display pops out of place due to the same issue.
