Art Bell seen at at his home in Pahrump in 1996

George Noory, the current host of Coast to Coast AM, made an announcement concerning Bell's death during his show at about 1:20am Central Time on Saturday, April 14, 2018.

Radio host Arthur "Art" Bell died in his Nevada home on Friday, authorities said. His nationally-syndicated program, "Coast to Coast AM", was aired on about 500 stations in North America in the 1990s.

Bell later founded Pahrump's KNYE 95.1 FM radio station, where its broadcast studio and transmitter were stationed near his Pahrump residence.

Bell retired a few times over the years, including in 2015 from his "Midnight in the Desert" show after what he claims to be several intrusion events occurring at his Pahrump home.

An autopsy is scheduled in coming days to determine the cause of death. He served as his own producer, engineer and host, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal.

Former business partner Alan Corbeth said during Bell's 2008 induction in the National Radio Hall of Fame that nobody was better than Bell at understanding a "how to create theater of the mind".

Coast to Coast AM is aired on over 300 radio stations in the USA and Canada.
