Barbara Bush, 92, to focus on 'comfort care'

Former US first lady Barbara Bush 92 is in failing health and won't seek more medical treatment

"Bush, now age 92, has decided not to seek additional medical treatment and will instead focus on comfort care", the statement said.

As reported, Barbara Bush is the 37th First Lady of the United States when her husband, George H.W. Bush, was President.

Her husband, 94, also has had health issues in recent years.

Just this month, the former first lady wrote about her husband in a note for the spring edition of Smith College's alumnae magazine.

In the statement, it was not written how critical her condition is at present.

The nation's 41s president also was hospitalized in 2015 in ME, where he and his wife spend summers at their home in Kennebunkport, after falling at home and breaking a bone in his neck. Her father was the publisher of McCall's and Redbook magazines. Barbara Bush was hospitalized 2017 after due to fatigue and coughing.

Barbara Pierce Bush was born in Rye, New York.

Smith College awarded Barbara Bush with an honorary degree in 1989.
