English Premier League Report, Manchester United v West Brom, 15 April

Alexis Sanchez arrives at Manchester United's Carrington training ground on Friday morning

A week after City surrendered a 2-0 lead to lose 3-2 to United and squander the chance to wrap up the title in flawless style against their arch-rivals, it was relegation-bound West Brom who served it up on a plate. The Red Devils come into the game high on spirits, following their 3-2 derby triumph against neighbours Manchester City last weekend.

But the Baggies had other ideas as they frustrated the Red Devils and snatched the victor through Jay Rodriguez with just over 15 minutes to go.

Over £12m was traded on the 2017/18 Premier League Winner market, but with City effectively running away with the title - eventually winning it with five games remaining - no team other then the winners traded at odds-on, or even notably shorter than their pre-season odds.

As City wrapped up the Premier League without having to kick a ball, here are five things we learned.

United beat West Brom 2-1 in the reverse fixture earlier this season with goals from forwards Romelu Lukaku and Jesse Lingard and Foster said the league's basement club had to be wary of the threat posed by Jose Mourinho's side.

Ex-United defender Jonny Evans is a doubt for West Brom with a knee injury. The most United can now reach is 86.

The Baggies have scored just 26 Premier League goals in 2017-18, the same total Manchester United have registered in the first half in games alone.

But you wouldn't have guessed it with the way Mourinho set his side out on Sunday afternoon, at Old Trafford no less.

It's been nearly inevitable for the whole of 2018 but Manchester City have today sealed the Premier League title without even kicking a ball on Sunday afternoon.

Rondon had a header saved and Juan Mata flashed wide, before Mourinho turned to Anthony Martial in place of Pogba as heavy rain fell. West Bromwich Albion West Brom have taken just two points from the last 30 available to them (D2, L8).

United had to at least draw to keep the title race mathematically alive but were stunned at Old Trafford when Jay Rodriguez headed home after the break.

And while it may be too little, too late, with Liverpool up next, the Baggies are showing their fans they will not call it quits until they are mathematically relegated.
