In Washington, DC, more than 500 people donned white lab coats and carried signs that said, "Science not Silence" and "Make America Smart Again" a play on Trump's slogan "Make America Great Again".

The second edition of the march was organised in more than 200 cities across the globe attended by lakhs of scientists, research scholars, teachers and students.

Washington's event began Saturday morning with teach-ins, expos and a rally that featured speakers and musical performances before participants planned to march to the US Capitol.

"It's not just about investment in science.it's about stipulation to fact, to truth, to knowledge, to science".

"We can not make decisions unless we know the truth and we know the facts".

"I also feel passionately about science education", she added.

People from the Grand Valley marched to defend and advocate for evidence-based science and it's role in society.

"There's no room for climate deniers", she said.

Dave Harrington, the Lehigh Valley For All president, said the group hosted the rally because there hasn't been a change in the administration's stance on the environment and science since the last rally.

At a public meeting after the march, organisers read out messages from geneticist M.S. Swaminathan and former Anna University Vice-Chancellor M. Anandakrishnan.
