Ryzen 7 2700X and Ryzen 5 2600X Overclock to 5.88 GHz

The desktop class CPUs compete head-to-head with Intel's latest 8th generation processors. AMD's new Ryzen CPUs are now available for pre-order, will launch on April 19th, and even though the first reviews will go live on April 17th, it appears that the first third-party gaming benchmarks have surfaced. AMD plans on continuing its streak with the launch of the 2nd Generation Ryzen CPUs aimed at consumer market.

The AMD Ryzen 7 2600X appears have to clocked in at a slightly lower 5.882GHz, which is still impressive nonetheless given that this CPU is only meant to achieve 4.2GHz on a single-core.

The new chips are also now available for pre-orders on AMD's website, since Friday, April 13.

The second gen Zen CPUs, led by the eight-core flagship Ryzen 7 2700X, are scheduled to launch on April 19.

The AMD Ryzen 1800X is the top of the line CPU that AMD has to offer right now, that is before the AMD Ryzen 2700X comes out in a few days.

Intel's new i7 8700k, which sells for about $350, has only six cores, in comparison, as Engadget pointed out. "We've updated the AMD cooler lineup for Socket AM4 with the new top-of-the-line AMD Wraith Prism, featuring per-RGB color illumination control". The CPU comes with 8 cores and 16 threads which should be more than enough for your needs. The 6-core/12-thread Ryzen 5 2600X hit 5.882GHz. Users who would not be using all the multi-threading capability of the new 2700 series could instead pick up one of the new Ryzen 5 2600 chips, instead.

The 2nd generation AMD Ryzen processors use the same Zen architecture as the previous one that AMD claims allowed it to push for a staggering 52 per cent increase in the Instructions Per Clock, compared to the previous architecture.

The Ryzen 5 2600 is the most affordable chip announced this week, at $199.

The Ryzen 5 2600 is a 6 core 12 thread CPU with a base clock and boost clock frequencies of 3.4 GHz & 3.9 GHz.
