S. Korea denounces alleged chemical attack in Syria

Trump and His UN Ambassador Nikki Haley are Openly Fighting Over Russian Sanctions

In conjunction with British and French soldiers, the USA military carried out the strikes on three sites, a scientific research center near Damascus and two chemical weapons storage facilities near Homs.

These missile strikes were coordinated by the U.S., France and the U.K.in response to an alleged chemical attack by the Syrian government in Douma last week.

U.S. President Donald Trump praised the military strike on Syria as a "perfectly executed" operation and said it was aimed at ending the use of such weapons of mass destruction. "There won't be anything, or anyone, even close!"

Russian lawmaker Dmitry Sablin said Assad spoke highly of Russia's missile defense weapons during the meeting in Damascus, describing them as superior to those used by the United States and its allies, according to Russia's TASS news agency.

"We acted to deter the future use of chemical weapons by holding the Syrian regime responsible for its atrocities against humanity", Nikki Haley, UN ambassador for the USA, said.

The Pentagon also says none of the missiles filed by the USA and its allies was deflected by Syrian air defenses, rebutting claims by the Russian and Syrian governments.

Father Sabbagh says despite Syrians being frustrated about the bombings, those that attacked Syria should not expect any retaliation from naturalized Syrians.

The biggest town in Eastern Ghouta, Douma, is where suspected poison gas was dropped on civilians during fighting on April 7, killing about 40 men, women and children.

Images reveal the destruction caused to Syria's chemical weapon programme by a barrage of US, French and British missiles. Russian Federation claims that 71 of 103 missiles fired were shot down, although the Pentagon says that is not true.

Haley warned that the United States was "locked and loaded" if any new chemical attack was carried out in Syria. "Because it's like, 'Oh no, you can't use chemical weapons but you can use violence, you can starve them, you can use missiles and air strikes against them, ' but chemical weapons are a no?"

"This is something we can not accept, the use of chemical weapons on civilians", he said, "and the worldwide community needs to continue to stand extremely strongly as we continue to hold Syria accountable".

Speaking on British television, British Foreign Secretary (Minister) Boris Johnson threw his weight behind Prime Minister Theresa May's decision to take part in the attack, saying it was the right thing to do to deter further use of chemical weapons.

The Pentagon has said the strikes successfully hit the three chemical weapons facilities which were targeted.

An global fact-finding mission from the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons is now in Syria and expected to visit Douma.

- Syrian state TV called the attacks a "blatant violation of worldwide law and shows contempt for global legitimacy".
