Trump 'morally unfit' for office, fired Federal Bureau of Investigation chief Comey tells ABC

The President of the United States may be being blackmailed by a hostile foreign power.

The president "treats women like they're pieces of meat". On Sunday, Trump similarly suggested Comey's handling of the Clinton case seemed to be based on the assumption she would win.

In it, Comey wrote that Trump, in a private meeting, pressed the then-FBI director for his loyalty. "That she's going to be elected president, and if I hide this from the American people, she'll be illegitimate the moment she's elected, the moment this comes out". Trump said in one of a series of tweets fired off Sunday before the interview. He said Trump repeatedly asked about its unverified allegation that Russians had video footage of a 2013 encounter with prostitutes in Moscow. Comey recalled the president asking "Do I look like a guy who needs hookers?"

In the book, A Higher Loyalty:Truth Lies and Leadership, he also defended the timing of the book's publication in the midst of the ongoing Russian Federation inquiry and before the release of a Justice Department inspector general's examination into the FBI's handling of the Clinton email investigation, which Comey oversaw.

As the interview continued, Comey appeared to have no fondness for the man who fired him last May. "And the question is, how much stain is too much stain and how much stain eventually makes you unable to accomplish your goal of protecting the country and serving the country?"

It was important the pressure for ending the investigation was issued in a phone call and not in a written document, former FBI assistant Director Ronald Hosko told TheDCNF.

Comey also said that serving in Trump's administration poses a serious ethical dilemma.

"That culture of leadership comes to mind constantly when I think of the Trump Administration", said Comey, referring to the stage of his career in which he fought organized crime in NY.

But Mr Comey's final judgement of Mr Trump was expressed in those moral terms, and was devastating.

Lynch also says that Comey never raised any concerns with her regarding the email investigation.

"I felt like I was totally alone, that everybody hated me". "I hope folks read the whole thing and find it useful".

"They did it in a phone call, which is maybe a little more hard to serve up as evidence", he told TheDCNF in an interview.

"This president is unethical, and untethered to truth and institutional values", Comey says in the book, according to a New York Times review. "As far as I know, everybody does what they do for money".

The interview prompted immediate reactions from Republican leadership. Allen noted, Comey will likely repeat these statements to stay on message for his book tour, which means the president will be hammered by the message over and over again. "No FBI director has ever been fired as he was investigating a president", Stephanopoulos told CNNMoney. Trump called Comey an "untruthful slime ball" in a tweet and wrote that "it was my great honor to fire" him. "He lied to Congress", White House press secretary Sarah Sanders said Sunday on ABC's "This Week".

The Home Shopping Network ABC News hosted an hour-long infomercial on Sunday night as part of a larger marketing strategy for the hyper-emotional former director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

"It is stunning and I wish I wasn't saying it", Comey replied, "but it's just the truth".

The President and his allies have launched a forceful counterattack.
